Vienna Ring Cycle 2025

 Observation: Viennes will not walk against the red man at a crossing even if there is no vehicle within 10km of them. We make our way into the centre(teeming with Urotrash) and purchase a few souvenirs. This evening's performance is Twilight of the Gods (Gotterdammerung), nearly 5 hours of Wagnerian pleasure. Brunhilde has a cold but is a real trooper and belts out aria after aria. The crowd go wild,everybody in the opera dies  but everybody in the audience are ecstatic, as are we-up there with Melbourne winning the Grannie or Australia winning the Ashes.

I Today we decided to reconoitre our bike route,on foot, to the start of the Tour de Danube. Things noted: despite many bike paths in Vienna,there was a conspicuous absence of such for our planned pedal. However there were some good eating joints along the way. Random beautiful buildings Former antiaircraft emplacement and air raid shelter There were other distractions including the Riesenrad, where I could channel Harry Lime(See Third Man museum day).  By the time we got down to the beautiful Blue Danube of Vienna we discovered a train station which linked to a station next to our digs, which we thought was a shplendid option to braving the maniacal drivers of Vienna. Lunch break Next stop was the Holocaust Wall where we found my grandmother's name-very moving experience. Stefanie Hoffmann(sic) Our last dinner in Vienna was at Meissl & Schaden for the ultimate schnitzel experience. Note the high degree of puffedupiness(I'm talking about the schnitzel!!!!!)

 Late start and we make our way to the Sigmoid Fraud museum situated in his old apartment in Berggasse. Lunch in a local Beisl and then a walk to the Globe Museum. What I expected What we got It was actually pretty cool. Our entrance ticket included entry to the Esperanto Museum-I don't think anyone would bother otherwise!I think we set a record for shortest visit to any museum ever! Then on to Demels, arguably Vienna's finest pastry shop Yummo(and so were the cakes) Making Kaiserschmarn

 This morning we were due to visit the synagogue but tour was cancelled due to the "situation". So we had a kleiner Brauner instead. Sunbaking Vienna style We wandered off to the Leopold Museum to take in a healthy dose of Egon Schiele and Klimt. In the arvo we went looking for a portable refrigerator in order to transport our cheese-big success! Tonight's opera was Siegfried-sitting in front of me was a Watusi warrior with resless head syndrome-not at all irritating. Robyn's subtitle machine broke down in the first act so she couldn't tell a Valkyrie from a dragon; any way it was all restored in time for act 2. The whole performance went for over 4 hours(plus intervals) but was quite gripping and entertaining(could have used a few more jokes).
